That won't happen.

[ Aiichiro pauses for a moment, and there's a bit of shifting about. ]

Their medical... they can do things that I wouldn't have even imagined in my own world. I know you're really scared and I can't promise you that it won't hurt or anything like that, because I don't know. But I've woken up in that hospital before, and trust me... they won't leave you out of service.

"Out of service."

Hnh. Like a broken, bulging vending machine that just keeps... [ whoops, here goes the nervous hysteria giggling, hands over his face.] leaking.

Oh Aii, I'm so completely Out of Service right now.

[ That's probably not a good laugh. But it's better than being angry at him for having stuck his foot in his mouth, and better than sounding really scared or whatever. Sometimes laughing helps, right? ]

Well, see, that's why you're there. But they're going to want to get you back in service because you're one of their best citizens, right? So all you have to do is hang in there, and I'm sure they'll have you ready to go again as soon as they can.

And then we'll all be scrambling over who gets to put our dirty hands all over your goods first.

[ Zexion doesn't dare admit how completely unappealing the idea of hands on his prick it, at this very moment. He just holds arm across his stomach and feels his jaw tremble and tries to push through the tension headache. ]

Right. Right, in no time...

[ He smiles wanly rocking a little on the plastic seat to try and relieve a little of the heavy pressure, babbling.] Maybe they'll go ahead and give me a 'virtual' heart, too, while I'm in here.

I don't know if I'd go that far!

[ No, that's probably not a good sign after all, Zexion joking about that. Or at least, he doesn't think so. But Aiichiro isn't really an expert either. He's never known the right thing to say to people, he just does his best. ]

But you know what's definitely true? Even if you were out of service forever, heart or no heart, I'd still be waiting for you. So you don't have to be scared.

I know you would. [ Zexion sighs solemnly, and he does find small and warming comfort in that. ]

You're right, even if I became completely useless to the rest of this world...

Your heart is kind, and you'd still be there for me, smiling just as ever.

Of course I will. So don't forget, okay? If it gets really scary or you just need someone to talk to, or to have talk to you, you can call me. Even if it's the middle of the night or whenever.

[ He says it again just to be sure Zexion understands, that he means it, that he'll definitely be there for him even if it's only over the chip. ]

And I'm going to call Genesis and check in on what I can do for him right away. We'll be a team, even if we're not in the same place, and get through it.

[ A team?

Never since six apprentices decided to go rogue together in all their dangerous discoveries, and Xehanort declared them all in together, has he felt so much swell and relief and belonging wrapped into one word.

Even the Organization had always felt hollow, but this on Aii's lips in particular, 'We'll be a team', was the sort of thing that left Zexion more touched than he ought to be, and leaking even further from places even more out of the ordinary.

He sniffs, wiping at his cheeks.]

Okay! [ Zexion whispers fiercely, nodding into space as he gazes across the waiting room and breathes in big gulps that try to contain the overflowing feeling. ] We'll get through this together. You and I, and Genesis. Thank you.

[ That sniffly sound? And that breathing? Aiichiro blinks in confusion for a second, but it's no good to say anything, not really. Not now when Zexion is vulnerable, and he already knows better than to whack him with things that are complicated at times like this. It's much better to just store it away in his own heart, for now.]
